In another post, aburke31337 raises the issue of the ECU pin 12 being cut and no longer receiving what would normally be an input from the AFM. ECU pinout refers to the pin 12 signal being Air Inlet _Degree_ - is it correct to think that signal is the AFM vane-position signal (ie: degree refers to the vane angle in the AFM?) and is superfluous since the MAF obviously doesn't have a vane or measures airflow in that way?

Pin 12 is the 5 volt power supply FROM the ecu TO the AFM. No MAF runs on 5 volts they only run on 12v, thus the cutting and splicing of the Pin 12 wire into a 12v source, pin 37. BMW's descriptions at times are weak in their schematics.
