- The way they should have come

The GEN III/M Mass Air Flow conversion is finally giving the e30 M3 what it deserves. Our first generation MAF conversion for the M3 had a few short comings and we saw some inconsistancy with performance from car to car. However, it's always, "back to the drawing board" when we and our customers are not satisfied. A few years go by and we release our new GEN III/M conversions for the early M Cars. Customers have been chiming in with their opinions on our new GEN III/M Conversions...

John Holborow of Australia writes:
 I have now installed both the MAF and WAR chip into my E30M3 and I must say the install went so well I cannot understand why every E30M3 owner has not fitted them. The S14 now has noticeably better performance but most of all is by far, much smoother and more responsive. The car is a joy to drive at any speed and at any rev range with no signs of the usual flat spots and hesitation.

Shane's S14 has shrick cams and with the WAR chip the performance improvement in his very noticeable, especially higher in the rev range. We both have 4.11 diffs fitted to our cars with the Dogleg close ratio gearbox and the performance now is outstanding.

We are going to a track day on the 12th Dec and hope to have done some fine tuning before hand and will do more with a lambda fitted on the day.

We have been studying the early Motronic ECU's for a long time now and we are now able to bring the best MAF conversion these M cars have EVER seen. The GEN III/M MAF is a huge 4" meter and is as solid as if BMW had designed it to be on these cars. The addition of our WAR Chip to our product line up has really increased the popularity of our MAF conversions for the M Cars. Having the ability to control your own tune really proves useful to the M Car owners especially with their varying age and condition.

The car [M635 with Euro M88] has been amazing. It hasn't missed a beat since the tune, and its running extremely well even at the higher altitudes where I live. I feel like a hooligan every time I drive it. Its so easy to achieve "straight to jail" speeds, and I'm glad I've done the work to the brakes prior to the tune because I've needed their full potential on several occasions.

The drivability improvement is noticeable every time I drive the car. It's smooth and civilized around town, but ready to shriek to redline on command. The throttle response is really quite snappy now. In other words, the engine responds instantaneously to your right foot without the small delay associated with the air flow meter. The fueling and ignition curves are spot on. Even though we didn't tune for economy, my mileage hasn't dropped (not that I'm really concerned about mileage in this car). I averaged 25mpg on my drive home. I probably averaged 75mph most of the trip.

There is absolutely nothing negative to report at this time, and I will contact you first if anything goes awry with the tune. I tell everyone I can about your excellent work. My extremely picky friend that runs a local german car restoration shop was impressed, along with everyone else I have shown.

Duncan was able to come to our shop and allow us to develop the software for the GEN III/M MAF and the Euro M88 engine. The M88 sure came to life compared to the aftermarket chip he had installed during the baseline. Check out the dyno comparison here Duncan had recently refreshed his entire engine before the MAF conversion so his car is as mechanically fresh as the day it left the lot.
